What Are the Objectives of “Dogitization,” and What Has Ms. Jain Accomplished?

“Dogitization” advocates for citizens’ active participation in compassionately caring for neighborhood dogs. Through this initiative, Ms. Jain has pioneered efforts to reduce dog bites and curb the street dog population, creating awareness through educational videos about safe and effective ways to manage street dogs.
Her efforts led to a remarkable achievement in Old Palasia, Indore, where zero dog bites were reported, and all street dogs in the community were named and sterilized. Her work has been celebrated nationally, with media coverage and awards.

Where is “Dogitization” Heading?

Ms. Jain is now working toward the creation of a “Ministry of Community Animals,” aiming to implement a comprehensive sterilization program and take legal steps to control the stray dog population. She is deeply committed to raising public awareness, educating citizens on how to peacefully coexist with street dogs, and fostering compassion in local communities.
Through “Dogitization,” she has filed multiple Right to Information (RTI) requests and collected crucial data on sterilization efforts, dog bites, and local government expenditures. Her thorough analysis reveals that current strategies are failing, leading her to file a petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. This Public Interest Litigation (PIL) is set to be heard soon, and Ms. Jain hopes it will create clear, actionable policies to reduce both dog populations and bite incidents, while improving the welfare of street dogs across India.

Our Goals

  • Street dogs belong to citizens who live on the street. All people are encouraged to take collective responsibility for street dog welfare
  • Monitor and push government agencies to effectively control dog population, create awareness among general public and reduce dog bites.
  • Educate public on all issues concerning street dogs, their care and nurture.

Founder’s philosophy

“At Dogitization, we believe that animal welfare goes beyond simply caring for a few animals—it’s about transforming the attitudes and actions of every individual. Through education and public awareness, we aim to cultivate a society where every street dog is treated with compassion and respect.

We see dog bites as a direct reflection of the failure in animal welfare and government policies. The increase in dog bites is not just a result of animals' behavior, but a consequence of how humans have treated them. The more we mistreat, the more the problem grows.

No single donation can solve the issue of the 40 million street dogs. The real change comes from the collective action of 1.4 billion citizens, each playing a role in improving the lives of these dogs.”
