Despite enduring an accident, an unplanned pregnancy that tragically resulted in the loss of five puppies, and the challenges of life on the streets, she continues to face each day with strength and a smile. Though she has endured so much, Rampyari has found a place of comfort and safety outside a plywood shop, where she lives with her sister, Shyamlal. Together, they are well cared for, sterilized, and loved.
Rampyari’s story highlights the crucial importance of giving every dog a place to rest, to feel secure, and to belong. It’s not just about providing shelter—it’s about offering a space where a dog can find peace, recover from hardship, and thrive. For Rampyari, this safe haven has made all the difference, allowing her to heal, live with dignity, and keep her joyful spirit alive.

Bhuri

Bhuri’s story is a powerful reminder of the heartache that comes with abandonment, but also of the profound bond that can form between an animal and its human. Bhuri, handed over as a puppy to a 70-year-old man, has become not just a companion but a source of meaning and comfort for him in their later years. It’s heartbreaking that many dogs, like Bhuri, are handed off under false pretenses, left to face uncertainty when their initial caretakers never return.
Our work towards strengthening adoption and sterilization policies is critical, as it addresses both the abandonment issue and the overpopulation of street dogs. Advocacy for a vigilant approach by authorities is also essential to ensure such situations are minimized and managed properly.

The Dog Without a Name

Naming a dog is a significant step in forming a bond. When a dog is given a name, it symbolizes their acceptance into a community, their recognition in the world around them. We still call him "Don," but the name is a symbol of what he has yet to allow himself to experience—true trust and connection.
